I like the colourful, quirky nature of this piece. The mono printing was completed back at university, I used an image from a magazine and then my photograph. All paper based.
Experiment with decollage. I have never done this method before so was interested to see how it would turn out. I used pages from a scooter magazine as well as words from northern soul songs, with different scooter rallies printed on. Quite pleased with the outcome although I used the wrong coloured paper, the blue and the yellow as its too stark. I like the 'roughness' of it I think it ties in well with the scooter theme. Will experiment more with this.
Mixed media - black and white printed collage with hand embroidery. Like the concept of the viewer having to struggle to see the scooter image, with one image upside down to add to the confusion. Close up view Mono print, ripped scooter magazine with hand embroidery Feel that this image isn't strong enough although feel like this is the beginning of a new avenue to explore. I made a number of mono prints to experiment with, think the concept of adding the scooter article from a scootering magazine brings the link between the image and the scooter scene in general. Need to try this concept with machine embroidery. Hand embroidery on cotton fabric. Enjoyed creating this, strong use of colours and the distorted image provides a contemporary feel on an otherwise quite traditional medium.
